- System Requirements

- Installing Phone Book on Your Hard Drive
-
- Your first step to using Phone Book with Auto Dialer is
- to install it on to your hard drive.
-
- To install Phone Book with Auto Dialer
-
- 1 Make sure your computer and monitor are turned on.
-
- 2 Insert the Phone Book with Auto Dialer into the disk
- drive, and close the drive door, if necessary.
-
- 3 Create a directory you would like to use for Phone Book
- with Auto Dialer. For example if you want to name a new
- directory PHONE, then you would type MKDIR PHONE, and
- then press ENTER.

- 4 Change to the drive where you inserted the Phone Book
- with Auto Dialer disk. For example if you are using
- drive A, type A: and then press ENTER.

- 5 At the A\> prompt, Type Copy *.* C:\Phone, and then
- press ENTER.
-
- 6 When the copying is complete change back to C drive by
- typing C:. At this point you should see C:\phone>
- prompt.

- Starting Your Phone Book Program
-
- 1 Make sure your computer and monitor are turned on.
-
- 2 Change to your Phone Book directory.
-
- For example, to change to the directory on your hard
- disk called phone, type cd phone and press ENTER.
-
- 3 Type Phone
-
- 4 Press ENTER to start your program.
-

- Navigating in Phone Book
-
- All fields and command buttons are accessible by either
- using the tab key to advance to the next field then
- pressing ENTER to activate the command button, or clicking
- on the field with your left mouse button.
-
- When in the list of phone numbers pressing the arrow keys
- will scroll you threw your list. Also if their are enough
- entries to fill your page you may also use the scroll bar,
- page up,page down,home and end keys to move threw the
- list.

- Using your Phone Book
-
- When you first enter your program you have a blank screen.
- You must tell the Phone Book what you want it to do. The
- curser is in the search field waiting for your entry.
- While in the search field you may type the search
- criteria . The more you type in the narrower your search
- will be. Typing in nothing will give you a list of all
- numbers in your data base. Pressing the enter button
- will display your search criteria .

- The List of Names
-
- Move your curser to the list of names box. Pressing the
- down arrow will turn on your index bar. The index bar is
- used to tell Phone Book which item you would like to use.

- The Dial Button
-
- Turn on your modem. Select the number you want to dial and
- click the dial button. When the number is dialed pick up
- the phone and click the OK button in the message box to
- continue. Be shure to pick up the phone before you click
- the OK button or you will hang up the phone. If your modem
- is not dialing see File Menu
-
- The Erase Button
-
- The Erase Button can be used to erase any information on
- the screen for privacy if you are not exiting you program.
-
- The Add Number Button
-
- Selecting the Add Number Button will supply you with
- another form for adding new phone numbers. Enter the text
- and then select the OK button. If you find you entered
- this form in error select cancel or else you will add a
- blank record that will need to be deleted later.

- The Edit Button
-
- Choose the record you want to edit and click the Edit
- Button. You are now in the edit form. Make the required
- changes and select the OK button. If you enter here in
- error you can return by selecting the Cancel Button
- without changing anything.

- The Delete Button
-
- Choosing a record and pressing the Delete Button will
- erase the record from the data base.

- The Exit Button
-
- Need I say more.

- The File Menu
-
- The File Menu is used to configure the Phone Book.
- Selecting this button will produce a form for your to
- select an option or cancel and return to the view screen.

- Selecting Color:
-
- Selecting Color will produce a form for
- changing the colors of certain item as displayed in the
- list box. Making the changes and clicking ok will change
- the colors until another change is made.

- Selecting Modem
-
- Selecting Modem will allow you to configure the
- program to the requirements of your modem. When in this
- form all items must be displayed before you return; to
- configure you program correctly. If you enter here it is
- important to select the Exit Button if you do not want
- to make any changes. Use the drop down display boxes to
- select the requirements for that property. See your modems
- owners manual for proper configuration.

- Suggested setup for a 14400 bps:
- Baud Rate = 19200
- Parity = NONE
- Port Name = Com1
- Data Bits = 8
- Stop Bits = 1
- Dialing Type = Tone
